ACKNOWLEDGING HIS LORDSHIP

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6

In our journey of faith, submitting to the authority of Christ is fundamental. It is the acknowledgment that He is the Lord of our lives, and His ways are higher and wiser than our own. Proverbs 3:5-6 beautifully encapsulates this concept: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Submitting to Christ’s authority means letting go of the reins of control. It’s recognizing that we have limited knowledge and understanding, while He possesses infinite wisdom and knowledge. It’s choosing to trust His sovereignty even when we cannot fully comprehend His ways.

Consider the application of this principle in your life. How often do you find yourself trying to navigate life’s challenges independently, relying solely on your own understanding? It’s a natural inclination, but it can lead to frustration and anxiety.

Here’s the beauty of submission: when we acknowledge Christ’s lordship and lean on His understanding, we experience a profound sense of peace and direction. It doesn’t mean we stop thinking or making decisions, but rather we involve Him in every aspect of our lives.

Practical submission involves seeking His guidance through prayer and studying His Word. It means taking our concerns and decisions to Him in earnest prayer and aligning our choices with biblical principles. It also means being open to His leading, even when it doesn’t align with our initial plans.

Think about a situation in your life right now where submission to Christ’s authority is needed. Perhaps it’s a career decision, a relationship challenge, or a personal struggle. How can you lean on His understanding and submit to His guidance in that situation?

Remember, submitting to Christ’s authority is not a sign of weakness but of wisdom. It’s an act of trust that brings clarity and direction to our lives. When we embrace His lordship and relinquish control, we find that His ways truly are higher and wiser than our own.
