Face to Face with Jesus

"Then the sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, each one was judged according to their works." – Revelation 20:13

Earlier this year, I heard a story about a fisherman’s monument in Homer, Alaska. It was a tribute to those who lost their lives at sea. On a plaque beside the statue was a line that said the sea tells a story. It tells of the life it brings and the lives it claims.

That line stuck with me. It reminded me that the ocean seems like a final resting place for many. But Scripture makes it clear that no matter where someone has lived or died, no one is beyond God’s reach. The sea will give up its dead. Death itself will give up its dead. And every single person will have a moment before the Lord.

Have you ever stopped to picture that moment? The moment you will stand face to face with Jesus? We often imagine it, but the truth is it will likely be far beyond anything we can picture.
Here is what matters for you today. That moment is coming for every person. There is no hiding. There is no running. There is no avoiding it. Each of us will give an account of how we have lived. And we will be judged, Scripture says, according to our works.

But here is the hope we hold onto. For those who have placed their trust in Jesus, that moment is not about condemnation. It is about reward. It is about hearing well done. It is about stepping into the presence of the One who has already paid the price for your sin.

So, how should you live today knowing that this moment is ahead? Live in a way that reflects who you belong to. Live with intention. Live with forgiveness. Live with purpose. Do not drift through the days as if they do not matter.

One day you will see Jesus face to face. Let that truth shape how you love people. Let it change the way you forgive and show grace. Let it give you courage to share your faith. The sea may tell stories of life and loss, but your life today can tell the story of hope, redemption, and eternity. Live today in light of that day.
