Make Room for the Word

“Let the word of Christ dwell richly among you, in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.” - Colossians 3:16

A lot of people think they can have a healthy walk with God while ignoring the very thing He gave them to build it, His Word. You’ll hear things like, “I love God, but I’m not really into church,” or “I have my own kind of faith, I don’t really read the Bible.” That might sound casual and honest, but it’s not biblical.

If you’re serious about being spiritually healthy, then God’s Word cannot be an optional part of your life. It has to be central. Paul says right here in Colossians 3 that we are to “let the word of Christ dwell richly” among us.

He didn’t say to visit the Word every once in a while. He said to let it dwell. Let it take up space. Let it live inside you. And not just a little, but richly. That means God’s truth needs to be the thing shaping your thoughts, forming your decisions, anchoring your identity, and feeding your soul.

This is part of the blueprint God gave us. If we want to walk in spiritual health, His Word must have a permanent place in our lives. We also need the Church. Not out of religious obligation, but because God designed us to grow in community with other believers.

And worship is not just music, it’s your heart posture. It’s choosing to lift your eyes above your problems and lock them on the One who holds it all together.

When God’s identity for you becomes your anchor, His character becomes your clothing, His peace becomes your guide, and His Word becomes your foundation. Your soul gets stronger.

If you're tired of feeling spiritually weak, it might be time to make room again. Not just for church on Sunday, but for the Word of God every single day. Let it dwell in you. Let it shape you. Let it make you whole.
