Follow the Leader Who Never Loses

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” - 1 Corinthians 15:57

If you’ve ever rooted for a losing team, you know the pain. The frustration. The hope that rises in the offseason, only to crash again by midseason. As a Cowboys fan, I know that feeling way too well. When the losses pile up year after year, winning starts to feel more like a fantasy than a possibility.

That’s why fans get excited when there’s talk of a new leader. Whether it's a new coach, GM, or quarterback, there’s this belief that maybe, just maybe, this person could turn everything around. Why? Because we know something to be true. Leaders determine culture.

That’s why “Black Monday” exists in the NFL. It's the day after the regular season when coaches get fired, because when a team loses, the first place people look is leadership. And it’s no different in life. You show me the leader, I’ll show you the culture they create.

The truth is, every one of us is being led by something or someone. For some, it’s ambition. For others, it’s fear. For others still, it might be success or approval or comfort. And just like a bad coach, the wrong leader in your life will keep you stuck in a losing culture.

But there is good news. In life, there’s one Leader who never loses. His name is Jesus. He’s undefeated. Death couldn’t beat Him. Sin couldn’t hold Him. And if He is leading your life, you’re not following someone who guesses, you’re following someone who already won.

That’s why Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15, “Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” In other words, we don’t have to create the win, we just need to follow the One who already secured it.

If you’re tired of living in a losing culture, maybe it’s time to check your leader. Because the only way to walk in victory is to follow the One who never loses.
