Tear Down the Wall
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:9
God isn’t far from you. He never moves away. But He also doesn’t force closeness when your heart is cluttered with things that don’t belong. He wants intimacy with you. He wants you to walk with Him, hear His voice, and feel His presence. But He’s not going to compete with the sin you’re holding onto or the pride that refuses to budge. He won’t force Himself into a heart that’s full of division or bitterness. If something’s standing between you and God, it needs to come down.
The wall might be obvious. A hidden habit, a broken relationship, a secret grudge, or a pattern of pride that keeps making excuses. Or maybe it’s more subtle. A cold heart, a distracted mind, a distant spirit. Whatever it is, it doesn’t have to stay up. But the next move is yours.
God’s already made His move. He sent Jesus to die in your place. He opened the door. He removed every barrier except the ones you’re still choosing to keep. And now He’s waiting. Not with crossed arms, but with open hands. He wants to restore closeness. But it starts when you stop pretending and start confessing. When you get honest and say, “God, this thing is in the way. Help me break it down.”
And here’s the promise. When you come clean, He forgives. Every time. When you tear down the wall, He fills the space. His presence rushes in where repentance opens the door. You don’t have to perform. You don’t have to clean yourself up first. You just have to want Him more than whatever’s standing in the way.
What’s the wall for you right now? What’s keeping you at a distance? Tear it down today. Let repentance do its work. Let grace rush in. Because closeness with God isn’t reserved for the perfect. It’s available to the humble. And it starts the moment you’re ready to move.
