Held Together by Christ

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible… and in him all things hold together.” - Colossians 1:15-17

Most people read about Jesus and picture Him walking through dusty villages, healing the sick, and teaching the crowds. That’s true, but it's only part of who He is. Colossians makes it clear. He didn’t just show up in history. He wrote it. He created everything in heaven and on earth. He existed before it all. And right now, in this very moment, He is the one holding it all together.

When Paul says Jesus is the image of the invisible God, he uses the word “eikon,” which means exact imprint. That means Jesus doesn’t just reflect God, He reveals Him. He is the full and final picture of who God is. And He doesn’t just exist in theory or in theology. He is present, personal, and powerful in your life today.

Jesus is not one option among many. He is before all things. He is over all things. And nothing in your life is too far gone or too out of control for Him to sustain. When your plans fall apart, when your emotions are heavy, and when the future feels uncertain, you are not being held together by your own willpower or routine. You are being held by the same hands that spoke galaxies into motion.

If He can hold the stars in place, He can handle what you are carrying. If He can sustain creation, He can sustain you. If He is the firstborn over all creation, supreme in rank and authority, then there is no part of your life He cannot lead.

When your life feels unstable and the foundation is shaking, don’t look inward for strength. Look up. He is not shaken. He is not late. He is not guessing. He is holding all things together, including you.
