Set Your Focus on Heaven
"If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth" - Colossians 3:1-2
There is an important truth I want you to understand today. That is: Your mind leads your life. Before your feet ever move, your focus decides where you are going. That is why this passage in Colossians 3 is not just about encouragement; it is a command. If you have been raised with Christ, your mind cannot stay buried in the things of this world.
You cannot step into a new life with the same old mindset. It is like trying to drive forward while staring into the rearview mirror. You end up off course, frustrated, and confused about why progress feels impossible. Just like when your GPS starts recalculating because you missed a turn, your direction in life shifts when your focus drifts.
Some people say they want to live for God, but they are still chasing validation, comfort, and control. Others say they are seeking heaven, but they spend every day consumed by drama, envy, fear, or material success. When your mind stays wrapped up in earthly things, your life will never reflect the freedom and power you were raised to walk in.
Remember that scene from Dumb and Dumber where they take the wrong turn and end up in the exact opposite direction? That is what happens when your identity says one thing, but your focus says another. You cannot live as a citizen of heaven while your mind is stuck in the world.
If you want to live a transformed life, start with your focus. Fix your eyes on Jesus. Fill your thoughts with truth. Stop trying to mix the old with the new. A heavenly life is built on a heavenly mindset, and you will never become who God is calling you to be while clinging to what He has already called you out of.
