Suit Up in the New Self
"Put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator" - Colossians 3:10
God does not just call you to put off the old life. He invites you to put on something better. You are not meant to walk around spiritually exposed, trying to live new while still wearing what belonged to the old you. He tells you what to strip off, but He also hands you a brand new wardrobe.
Paul says to clothe yourself in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, and love. These are not occasional accessories. They are daily essentials. Like a firefighter suiting up before stepping into a blaze, you do not go into the world without gear. Every day you wake up and choose what you will wear. Not your shirt, but your spirit.
The old self wore pride. The new self puts on humility. The old self was quick to anger. The new one moves in patience. The old you demanded attention. The new you gives it freely to others. It is a total shift, not just in behavior but in identity.
When you put on the new self, you are putting on Christ. You are suiting up as someone who knows they are chosen, holy, and dearly loved. That is not just a feeling. It is a fact. And the more you remember that truth, the easier it becomes to live it out.
Love ties it all together. Paul says to put on love, which binds everything else in perfect harmony. Love is the belt that holds your spiritual outfit in place. Without it, the whole thing falls apart.
You are not on the losing team anymore. You have been raised to life, seated with Christ, and given a new name. So stop reaching for the old jersey. Suit up like someone who belongs to Him and walk out your faith like it actually matters. Because it does.
