Walking In Your Identity

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." - Ephesians 2:10

Your identity in Christ isn't just about who you are; it's about what you're called to do. You're not just God's beloved child; you're His masterpiece with a mission. Understanding your identity leads to living out your purpose.

The word "handiwork" in Greek is poiema, from which we get our word "poem." You are God's poem, His work of art, His masterpiece. Just as a poet carefully chooses each word and a sculptor meticulously shapes each detail, God has crafted you with intention and purpose.

"Created in Christ Jesus" emphasizes that this is your new creation identity. The old you was dead in sin; the new you is alive in Christ and designed for good works. These aren't just any good works, but specific works that "God prepared in advance for us to do.”

This means your life has divine purpose. Before you were born, God had plans for how He wanted to use you. Your gifts, your experiences, even your struggles, all serve a purpose in God's grand design for your life.

Consider the unique combination of gifts, experiences, and passions God has given you. How might He want to use these for His purposes? Ask God to show you the good works He has prepared for you to do, and take one small step toward walking in that purpose today.

Prayer:
Lord God, thank You for making me Your handiwork and preparing good works for me to do. Help me to see my life through Your eyes and to understand how You want to use my unique gifts and experiences for Your glory. Give me the courage to step into the purpose You have for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
