Don't Get Tired Of Doing Good
“Let us not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don't give up.” — Galatians 6:9 (CSB)
Any farmer will tell you the hardest part of farming isn't the planting and it isn't the harvest. It's everything in between. It's the long stretch where the seed is in the ground and nothing is visible, and you have to keep working land that hasn't given you a single thing back yet.
Paul knew what that does to a person. Not physical tiredness, the other kind. The kind that comes from doing the right thing for a long time without seeing the results you hoped for. Serving faithfully when nobody notices. Praying for the same person for eleven years. Holding on to hope in a season that keeps stretching out longer than you planned for.
His word to you today is simple. Don't quit.
Look at the promise attached to it. We will reap at the proper time. Not our time, the proper time, and that clock belongs to God. His timing is always right, even when it feels unbearably slow from where you're standing. The seeds you've been planting in prayer and faithfulness and quiet obedience aren't wasted. They're growing in soil you can't see into.
This is the long-game nature of following Jesus. The people who finish well are almost never the most gifted people in the room. They're the ones who refused to stop. They kept showing up, kept serving, kept trusting, long after the excitement was gone.
And that kind of endurance isn't something you generate. It comes from the God who gives strength to the weary and who has never once let go of somebody who was holding on to Him.
Name the one place in your life where you're closest to giving up. Now commit to it for the rest of this month, and tell one person so they can check on you. You can quit right before the harvest, or you can keep planting. You won't know which one it was until later.
Prayer
Lord, I'm tired, but I'm not quitting. Give me strength to keep doing good in the places where I've seen no return yet. Help me trust that Your timing is right even when it's slow. Keep me faithful in the long middle, and let me be the kind of person who is still standing at the end. In Jesus' name, Amen.
