Frozen In Faith

“Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. For we live by faith, not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:6-7

When we allow fear to control us or consume us, we are taking our eyes off Jesus and allowing our fear to overshadow our faith. 2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “We walk by faith, not by sight.” But when fear is directing our decisions and controlling our actions, we become frozen in our faith and therefore become disobedient to God.

When we fear, we are setting ourselves up for failure. When fear controls us, we will fail at being the person God wants us to be. We will fail at doing the things God wants us to do. He wants us to “walk by faith.” We cannot share our faith, give, and live our life on a mission if we are consumed with fear.

But when we focus on our faith, we find freedom. When you walk by faith and trust the Lord along the way, you walk with fresh confidence and freedom, knowing that He is in control and He is with you. He will be your shield and defense along the way. There is freedom when you walk by faith.

God does not want you to be frozen in fear. He tells us in Isaiah 43:1, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine.” The second Christ comes into your life, you become His purchased possession. And He tells us that He purchased us in order to release us from the cage of fear and the bondage of sin.

Are you frozen in fear? Is the fear you are experiencing keeping you from living out God’s mission for your life? If so, there is a way to break through the ice. You must have faith. Easier said than done, right? But God does not have to show you. That is the beautiful part of faith — it is not about what you can see, but trusting Him regardless of how things appear.

No matter where you find yourself in your current situation, do not fix your eyes on the things you see but look to what is unseen. This is where true faith is found!
