“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” – Revelation 3:15-16
If you are a believer, you likely can recall a season in your life where you were ALL-IN. We know what it is like to be on fire for God. You are living for God, sharing Him with other people, giving generously to build His Kingdom, worshipping Him passionately, serving in the church, and using your gifts.
At the same time, you can probably identify other seasons where you weren’t as devoted to the Lord, seasons where you were distracted by the world, or living in sin, or disobeying God’s commands for your life.
We all go through spiritual highs and lows. We might also go through times where we are neither hot nor cold for Christ. Revelation 3:15-16 says, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”
The truth is, God would rather us be cold than lukewarm. Today’s key verse says if you are neither, he will spit you out of his mouth. God doesn’t want you to be lukewarm, but He also doesn’t want you to be cold. God desires a relationship in which you are on fire for Him.
When is the last time you can remember being on fire for God, a time when you woke up and the first thing you did was thank Him for the breath He gave you? When was the last time you started your day in prayer, giving yourself to Him and His will for your life? When is the last time you called on Him to give you His strength for the day?
As a believer, and even just as a human, we need God. He designed us to need Him. But He doesn’t just want part of you. He wants you to be ALL-IN. Are you ready to get back to giving Him your ALL today?
