“No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.” – Joshua 1:5
Have you ever been in a position of leadership and just felt the weight of those following you on your shoulders? You think to yourself, “I’ve got to do this, and I’ve got to do that.” We put everything on our own shoulders and think if we can’t do it, no one can.
News flash: GOD CAN. God showed Joshua that all he really had to do was listen to the Lord, trust Him, and obey His commands.
God reminded Joshua by saying, “I’m capable of claiming victory in your story. I’m capable of expanding your territory and giving you this land. You are not fighting this battle alone!”
In fact, in Joshua 1:5 God says, “No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
God tells Joshua three times, to “be strong and courageous,” because “the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Whatever it is that you are doing, whoever it is that is following you, no matter how big the job, how important the task, God is ready to help. He never intended for you to feel the pressure of that leadership role alone. He wants to help you every step of the way.
There might be times when you feel as though you are the only one capable of doing a certain job. That if you do not do it, no one can. It is up to you to save the day and you don’t know how you are going to make it all work. But God will make a way. He is with you. And just as much as those beneath you are looking to you, in the same way, God wants you to look to Him.
You are not alone, because He says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
