When Matthew 4:18 says, “As he was walking along the Sea of Galilee…” I think it’s important to understand that Jesus wasn’t just out for a stroll that day. He was out on a search!
Do you know what He was searching for? The same thing He is searching for today! He is searching and scanning, looking for those who will truly follow Him! That is what the word “disciple” means. It is a word used to describe a “follower of Jesus”…someone that is fully and completely devoted to Him. God is always looking and searching for people who are willing to go ALL IN with Him!
2 Chronicles 16:9 says, “For the eyes of the Lord roam through the earth to show Himself strong for those who are wholeheartedly devoted to Him.”
He’s looking for those who need Him, those who want Him, and He’s searching so that He can demonstrate His power in them and do great things through them.
God’s eye is scanning today, and He is on the lookout for those who are “wholeheartedly devoted” to Him. He wants to give them peace, wisdom, direction, and victory. He wants to give them the solutions to their problems, the solutions they wouldn’t otherwise be able to find without Jesus Christ in their lives.
I don’t know about you, but I want to catch God’s eye! I want His eyes to fall upon me, upon my family, and upon my ministry. The Bible says God’s favor falls upon those who are wholeheartedly devoted to Him.
So understand this today: this wasn’t just a casual stroll along the Sea of Galilee. It was an intentional search. Jesus was looking for them! He was coming to them, asking them to drop everything and follow Him.
