Wherever.

“Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, ‘Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.’ Jesus replied, ‘Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.’ Another disciple said to him, ‘Lord, first let me go and bury my father.’ But Jesus told him, ‘Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.’” – Matthew 8:19-22

Would you follow Jesus…no matter what? Now, you might be quick to say “yes,” simply because as a Christ-follower you believe that is your responsibility. Yet, for many believers, they have stipulations. And those stipulations do not extend to “NO MATTER WHAT.”

There is a popular story in Matthew 8 where many are quick to criticize Jesus. There is a man saying he will follow Jesus wherever he goes. The man’s only stipulation is can he go back and bury his dead father first, to which Jesus responds, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”

Now, many think Jesus is being inconsiderate. Here is a man ready and willing to follow Him. He just needs time to bury his father first. But that is exactly the point: he needs TIME. Jesus wants to challenge the man to follow Him with no stipulations and no limits.

The Lord is looking for those who will follow Him anywhere. They will go across the globe, no distance too far. They will follow Him anytime, and they don’t have to get their ducks in order first. They are ready NOW. Whatever God calls them to do, they will do.

Are you willing to follow the Lord wherever He calls you…whenever He calls you… however He calls you…under any circumstances that He calls you? Or do you have “if’s, and’s, and but’s”? The Lord is not looking for those who respond with “I’ll go if…” or “Yes, but…”

The Lord wants your heart….your full heart. He wants complete commitment. Will you follow Him wherever?
