No Other Way

“Therefore, let it be known to you, brothers and sisters, that through this Man forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to everyone. Everyone who believes is justified through Him from everything that you could not be justified from through the law of Moses.” – Acts 13:38-39

Before He was arrested, Jesus prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me.” In other words, He was saying, “If there’s any other way, another cup, another method that would satisfy the claims of divine justice, and make salvation possible for lost sinners, let’s take that other way.”

But according to God’s Word, there wasn’t. Acts 13:38-39 says, Therefore, let it be known to you, brothers and sisters, that through this Man forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to everyone. Everyone who believes is justified through Him from everything that you could not be justified from through the law of Moses.”

Not only was there no other name that could do what God was calling Him to do, but there was no other way! Jesus knew that dying on the cross was the ONLY way to salvation. In fact, He said Himself in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, No one comes to Father except through me.”

There was and is no other way. You cannot just ask for forgiveness of your sins. Though that is part of what we must do, apart from Jesus sacrificing His life for us, that forgiveness would not be enough. Jesus had to die for us. It is the most sacrificial act any person has ever demonstrated in human history.

It was painful… it was excruciating… it was humiliating… it was brutal… and yet, Jesus did it.

If you are a believer, you know what He did. But did you know how He felt leading up to it? Did you ever stop to consider the emotions He felt? The angst? The worry? The sorrow? Jesus was human. He was blameless, but He had a mission. And He did what He had to do. We know what He did. And we know how He felt.

Praise Jesus today, that when there was no other name and no other way, He did the only thing that could be done for you!
