Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” – Hebrews 13:8

Over the last few days, we have spent a significant amount of time depicting the scene of Jesus’ crucifixion. We have done so to better understand what Jesus went through when He died for us because those details are often passed over.

We like to celebrate Easter and The Resurrection, but we must also remember the crucifixion. That is where we can see the love of Jesus. You have probably heard the phrase, “actions speak louder than words.” In a world where everyone loves to talk, it is in their actions that we see who they really are.

There is no greater action Jesus could have shown us to reveal His love than to lay down His life. But it is not just that He laid His life down; it is how He laid it down. And you know what is so encouraging? That same love Jesus showed through dying on the cross is the same love He has for us now.

Hebrews 13:8 tells us, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” He doesn’t change. Your circumstances might change. Your friends might change. You might change. But Jesus never does. No matter what you do, He will always love you as much as He did on that cross.

Isn’t that amazing? Jesus didn’t just die for us. He knew that we would sin against Him time and time and time again. He knew that we would choose ourselves and our selfish nature over Him. But no matter what, He loves us the same.

I don’t know about you, but how peaceful is it knowing that there is nothing we can do to escape the love of God? There is nothing you can do to outrun His love for you. The same Jesus that died on the cross for you is the same Jesus that loves you and watches over you today!
