The Safest Place You Can Be

“But if you are careful to obey Him, following all my instructions, then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and I will oppose those who oppose you.” – Exodus 23:22

Living courageously may be scary, but the fact remains the same. The safest place you can be is in the center of God’s will. This is why Daniel was able to stand up to his authorities time and time again. It was not that Daniel wanted to defy them or argue with them.

What Daniel understood was that no matter who he was at odds with, being “safe” was not a matter of abiding by the government law or following the king’s rules. But true safety came in obedience to God. This is why Daniel was able to display such courage.

We have spent a lot of time looking at the ways Daniel showed courage. We have talked about the things he overcame, but HOW did he overcome them? You say, “Pastor, the story of Daniel is truly inspiring, but HOW was he able to have such courage? I mean, the king was willing to kill people who defied him.”

This is how: Daniel understood he wasn’t safe obeying the king. He was safe obeying God. He was safe in the center of God’s will. When you are obedient to God, no matter how it looks in the moment, no matter what earthly consequences are headed your way, you are safe. Because when you obey God, He is obligated to fight on your behalf.

Exodus 23:22 says, “But if you are careful to obey Him, following all my instructions, then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and I will oppose those who oppose you.”

This is a promise you can claim: no matter what your situation is, when you are obedient to God, He will fight on your behalf. He’s got you. The safest place you could ever be is right in the center of God’s will.
