The Same God

“For the Word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” – Hebrews 4:12

Sometimes we forget that our Bibles are ALIVE. The Bible isn’t just a collection of 66 old books bound together and filled with great moral teachings and good advice. This is the WORD of GOD we are talking about!

Hebrews 4:12 reminds us, “For the Word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”

It is important to know and believe that the God of the Bible is the same God that we worship today. It is important we understand that His power 2,000 years ago was no greater than the power He makes available to each one of us in this moment, right now.

Many people limit God. We like to put Him in a box. And when we do that, we forget how powerful and capable He really is. We sometimes look at God like He was once a great athlete that peaked in the prime of His career, but now He’s past His prime and can’t do the things He once did.

Don’t forget what it says in Hebrews 13:8, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” His presence is consistent. His power is consistent. What He did 2,000 years ago He can do today! And that is true when it comes to saving, forgiving, restoring, redeeming, and even healing.

Do you trust that God is as powerful today as He’s ever been? Or do you think of God as “past His prime?” The same God who performed the miracles of the Bible is the God you have access to right now. He hasn’t changed. Now, how are you going to use that knowledge and power in your life today?
