You Cannot Mess Up

“For it is impossible to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened—those who have experienced the good things and shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come—and who then turn away from God. It is impossible to bring such people back to repentance, by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing Him to the cross once again and holding Him up to public shame.” – Hebrews 6:4-6

If you are a believer in Christ, I have GREAT NEWS for you today: there is nothing you can do to overturn the decision you made to give your life to Christ. That is right. Your name is marked in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and when your time on earth ends, you will spend eternity in Heaven with God.

That is irreversible. It does not matter what anyone else says or does, your eternal destination cannot be changed. The Bible assures us of this. Hebrews 6:4-5 says, “For it is impossible to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened—those who have experienced the good things and shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come.”

This means you cannot “mess up” your salvation. There might have been a time you doubted God and failed to trust Him…that time might even be now. You might have done something that you just cannot believe God would forgive. But I’m here to tell you that He already has. And your lack of faith now does not trump the decision you previously made.

God didn’t make it that way. In a fickle world where so much is up and down, here one day and gone the next. God is the same. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. And the same is true of His Word. You cannot “mess up” your belief in Jesus!

I’m here to tell you right now, no matter where you are in life, no matter how far you have slipped away from Him, you have not lost your place in heaven. Your fate is sealed. You are HIS. And no matter what you do, you always will be His. You cannot mess that up!
