It Cannot Change

“I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.” – John 5:24

Over the last week, we have talked about our identity. Who are you? If you are a believer in Christ, that is your identity. It is not about what we do, but whom we serve. We are HIS. And as His children, we can be assured that our identity will never change.

Our identity, found in Him, is permanent. We cannot “mess it up,” it cannot be taken away, and it cannot change. That is right, in a world where everyone is changing all the time, God never changes. And neither does your identity or salvation in Him.

Once you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, your fate is sealed. John 5:24 tells us, “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.”

Isn’t it assuring to know there is nothing you can do to reverse this? When we die, we are all going to one of two places: heaven or hell. There is no third option. Those who have chosen to follow Christ will experience a place better than they ever could imagine, next to God in heaven.

And those who have rejected Him will spend eternity in the lake of fire. The choice is yours. But the good news is, once you have chosen God once, you have chosen Him forever. God’s love is not based on your performance. He will never “change His mind” on you.

I want to assure you today, no matter what you have been up to, or what has gone wrong. God has not changed His mind about you. You are HIS for all of eternity!
