Different How?

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” – Romans 12:2

Are you living to fit in or are you okay with being different? If you are following Christ, you should not only be “okay” with being different, but you should strive for it. God calls us to “not copy” the ways of this world.

He commands us in Romans 12:2, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

So we should be different. Got it…but what does that look like? What does it mean to be different from the behavior and customs of the world? Well, it means to live for Christ and not for ourselves.

When your identity is found in Christ, you should live for His glory and not for your own gain. Being different starts with obedience to God, no matter the cost. Many people want to believe in God, they know in their hearts that He is real and that He loves them…but they just can’t give their life to Him.

Why? Because they don’t want it to cost them. Cost them how? They want to continue to live for themselves and not for Him. But if you are going to be different, it is going to require a life of living for God. You should know something though…

Living for God is worth it. It is not all sacrifice. Yes, you might have to give up some things you did before or turn from bad habits. But God will reward you far greater than any earthly pleasure you have been experiencing. It will not come without blessing.

When you are obedient to God, He rewards you. Being different might cost you giving up your old ways. But following God will come with far more rewards, blessings, and a greater life overall. Are you ready to be different? You won’t regret it!
