Use Your Gift

“In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well.” – Romans 12:6-7

What gifts and abilities has God given you to use? No matter who you are, God gives all of us different gifts and talents that He wants us to use to further His Kingdom. Nobody was designed to do everything. Just like sports teams and businesses assign different roles to different players or employees, God does the same for His team.

He gives us all different gifts so we can specialize in specific roles. Romans 12 describes this to us. Verses 6-8 say…

“In His grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.”

God not only gives us gifts, but He wants us to USE OUR GIFTS. He doesn’t give someone leadership skills for them to follow and go with the flow. He doesn’t give someone social and communication skills for them to work a job that is isolated.

God is the ultimate gift-giver. He will give you gifts, talents, and abilities. But it is up to you to use them. What are you naturally good at? What comes easy for you? After you have identified your gifts, then ask yourself, “how can I use my gift for God’s glory?” When you can answer that question, you can begin to fulfill the purpose and plan God designed you for!
