One Man’s Strength…

“How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.” – Matthew 7:4-5

What role has God given you when it comes to advancing His Kingdom? Over the last few days, we have discussed how we all have a role to play on God’s team. And that role varies for everyone. God gives us different jobs and assignments, based on our strengths and weaknesses.

As human beings, we all have a little bit of both. Just as God has given us strengths and things we do well, we all have things we struggle with. Every one of us has weaknesses. Paul called these thorns. God gave us weaknesses so that we would depend upon Him.

What we must understand is that we ALL have them. But just like roles, they are not all the same. What is a strength for someone else, might not come as easy for you, and vice versa. What might come easy for you and is something you would consider a strength could be something someone else really struggles with.

We must be careful not to judge others’ weaknesses in relation to our strengths. Matthew warns us against this.

Matthew 7:4-5 says, “How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.”

Your job is not to judge someone or concentrate on fixing their weakness. Worry about your own. Understand that what is easy for you might be difficult for someone else. God made us all different! One man’s strength is another man’s weakness. God wants us to love each other despite our differences!
