God is Not Surprised

“You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” – Psalm 139:16

What happens when a loved one suddenly loses their life? Your partner up and leaves you without any signs or even notice? A family member relapses back into their drug addiction? Your child suddenly drops out of school or your daughter is a pregnant teen?

These shocking events often catch us by surprise. But as followers of Jesus, we can find comfort in the fact that no matter what happens in your life, God is not surprised.

That is right, there is nothing that has happened, is happening, or ever will happen that takes God by surprise. He knows it all and He is prepared for it all. Psalm 139:16 says, “You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”

See, before He created this world, He already knew everything that would ever happen in it. As He created Adam and Eve and watched every baby be born after, He knew everything that would ever happen in their lives.

God knew this situation that caught you off guard was coming. He is not surprised by the sudden change of events in your life. In fact, He is prepared for it. He knows exactly how to help you, and He knows what is coming next.

God is always working in our lives. Sometimes, we mistake God’s silence for a lack of care. But that is never the case. God loves you and cares about you more than you could possibly imagine. Even if life threw a curveball at you, and you just don’t know what you are going to do…God does. He knows exactly what to do. He is working in your situation right now as you read this. Are you ready to follow where He takes you next?
