More Than That

“When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth, I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit.” – Ephesians 3:14-16

What is your battery? If you missed yesterday’s devotion, I want to encourage you to go back and read that one. But to recap, sometimes, what we need to do something great or fulfill God’s purpose for our lives is not a rally cry or a whole lot of “whooping and hollering.”

Instead of really loud encouragement, it might be that what we need is EMPOWERMENT. See, as we talked about yesterday, I can encourage and motivate a flashlight to shine its light and light up the darkness all I want… but without a battery, I am wasting my time.

It is the battery, the source of power, that will light up the battery, not my rah-rah speeches. And you know what, the same is true for you. Have you found yourself unmotivated to do the Lord’s work? Maybe you are struggling to get into His Word and find out what He wants to tell you.

If that is you, I want to tell you something. Motivational videos on YouTube or TikTok… inspirational quotes on the background of your phone and computer screens… self-help books on being motivated or “starting now”…they aren’t going to do it for you.

You need more than that because it isn’t about motivation. No matter who you are, motivation comes and goes. Even the most successful people in the world do not attribute their success to being more motivated. They often preach discipline (doing what they need to do even when they don’t want to) over motivation.

See, what you need is not more motivation. You need a battery. You need more from your power source. But I have good news; you have the Greatest Power Source in the history of the world because your source of power is God.

God is waiting for you to ask for His help. He is the power source that can light up the darkness in your life. The mission you know you were meant to live, He is the battery that can get you there. But first, you must install the battery. You can’t do it without Him. Are you ready to lean in and turn to your power source?
