A Changing Love

“For God loved the world in this way: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

Today, we are wrapping up our attempt to better comprehend the love of God. While we are on earth, it is likely impossible to fully understand the love of God. But that does not mean we should really spend time thinking about and trying to better comprehend it.

It was Paul’s prayer for the church then and for us now. If we can better understand the love of God, we can live in a way that demonstrates that love.

So what do we know about the love of God? We know that it is a sacrificial love. It is a perfect love. It is a faithful and forever love. It is also a changing love. That does not mean His love changes, it means that His love changes US.

As John 3:16 famously says, “For God loved the world in this way: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”

When God sent His Son, Jesus, to die for us, He made a way for us to know Him. When we choose to follow Him, He changes us. That love, the love of God, that He so freely showers upon His children, changes us.

Who you were before you knew Christ is not the same person you are after you know Christ. If it is, I would question if you really ever gave your life to God. Because when you accept Him as your personal Lord and Savior, He will change you.

The love of God is a love like no other. It is incomparable to anyone or anything else. His love is sacrificial, He proved that. His love is perfect, it never fails. His love is faithful, it is forever. And His love changes us for our good and His glory!
