In With the New

“And to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” – Ephesians 4:24

Are you walking worthy of the calling God has placed upon you? Many believers learn of their calling, and instead of becoming really excited about what God wants to do in their lives, they become uneasy. They begin to think about how unworthy they are of all God wants them to do.

But God does not call us to live this way. He wants us to walk worthy of our calling! How do we do that? Paul gives us a strategy that is familiar to a quote you have probably heard before; “out with the old, in with the new.”

Yesterday, we looked at how it starts by taking out the old. If we are going to walk worthy of the calling we have received, it starts with experiencing a wardrobe change. We’ve got to take off the sinful and strained garments of our past, and we’ve got to put on our new spiritual wardrobe, which allows us to live the life God has called us to live.

In Ephesians 4:24 Paul commands us, “And to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”

Do you want to walk worthy of your calling? It starts by removing the ways of your old life, the things that have no room in your new life. But once you have taken out the old, it’s time to come in with the new.

You must bring in the things of your new life. You can’t be changed by Jesus and remain the same. When you walk a new walk and replace your old life with the new life that is available through Christ, you will naturally live a different kind of life.

It’s the life you want to live. It is what you have been waiting for. It is what you have been called to. But it starts by going, “out with the old, in with the new.”
