Christ’s Makeover

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

One of the most popular shows on HGTV is Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. On this show, designers have one week to completely renovate an old house and make it into a home for some lucky family. The show is usually very uplifting and emotional, especially at the end when the family gets to see their new home.

If you’ve watched this show, you know that at the time of the reveal, the house is full of brand-new furniture, new rugs, and other new items throughout the house. But did you know that the family doesn’t get to keep all the new stuff?

They are given the opportunity to purchase it after the show is over… but these things are not given to them for free. So, as a result, many people on this show end up putting their old furniture back in their new homes. Do you get it? They’ve got a shell around them, but everything old on the inside remains the same.

When Christ gives you a makeover, He makes you a new creation on the inside and the outside. When He saves you and makes you new, there are no surprises or hidden fees. Everything He offers you is completely free and is paid for by the blood of Jesus!

This means we don’t have to use our old selves to walk in our new life. Christ has given us new clothing to wear. He has given us a new power to embrace so that we can walk worthy of the calling we have received.

2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

When Christ makes us over, we are NEW. We do not have to bring the old furniture in, it’s all new, my friend. If He has changed you, walk in the newness of life He offers. It is readily available to you!
