Let Go of Your Ungodly Relationship

“Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.” – Proverbs 27:6

What are you holding onto? What is keeping you from living the life God has called you to live? There is no better plan and purpose for your life with no better outcome than the life God has designed for you. So, what are you holding onto that is keeping you from living that life?

Is it an ungodly relationship? As we discussed yesterday, sometimes it is bad habits we have to cut out of our life. Other times, it’s people that we have to cut out.

Proverbs 27:6 says, “Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.” Now, you might not be thinking of the person you have a relationship with as an “enemy.” But God might be.

The fact is, whether it is a boyfriend, girlfriend, best friend, co-worker, or someone else, you know that this person (or group of people) is not good for you. And for you to step into your new self and live the life God has planned for you, you must let go of this ungodly relationship.

It could be a romantic partner that is not equally yoked. They influence you to do ungodly things because, well, they are ungodly.

It could be a close friendship you have developed that has gotten you involved in some bad stuff because they do not follow the Bible.

It could be a co-worker or business partner that doesn’t play by a moral code because they don’t share your convictions.

God has better for you. It is nothing personal against them. Some people just aren’t meant to be in your life. If you want to step into your new self and live the life worthy of your calling, it is going to take letting go of that relationship. Are you ready to let go?
