Let Go of Your Lies

“Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.” – Colossians 3:9-10

What are you holding on to? What is keeping you from living the life God has called you to live? There is no better plan and purpose for your life than the life God has designed for you. But I believe that the things we hold onto out of selfish ambition or motive keep us from living that life.

What are you holding on to? Is it a lie or a series of lies? Over the last couple of days, we have looked at things we hold on to that can keep us from God’s ultimate will for our lives. These are things like bad habits or ungodly relationships. But sometimes it can be as simple as our own lies.

You might be reading this and know that, over time, you have told some serious lies. It might be about how well you are doing at your job. You might have painted a picture of what your life looks like, knowing that you’re stretching the truth about your reality.

You might be telling people you are doing great when, deep down inside, you are hurting. You might be telling others a lie so that you can appear to be at a certain status that allows you certain privileges.

But underneath, only you know the truth. And unfortunately, every night you have to come home to that truth and realize your life isn’t what you portray it to be.

If you can relate, I have good news for you. Your life can be that great. It can be even better than you portray it. God has a plan and purpose for you that blows even your greatest dreams out of the water.

But for you to “put on” that life, you have to “take off” this one. And that starts with letting go of your lies. Colossians 3:9-10 says, “Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.”

Do you want the life you keep lying about? Do you want even BETTER? God has THE BEST life you could ever live ready for you. The only thing you have to do is let go of your lies.
