Embrace the Daily Battle

“And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” – Joshua 24:15

Taking off your old self and putting on your new self is not easy. It sounds great, it is very inspiring and very motivating. But like anything else we want, it takes a lot more than just motivation.

Motivation might get you started, but that motivation can quickly fade when challenges come your way. And I want you to be sure of one thing: when you try to step into the new life God has called you to, there will be challenges because the devil is not ready to concede.

If you want to break free from your old self, it starts with resisting the devil. But then you must embrace the DAILY battle of fighting him. Worshipping the Lord is a daily decision. And by making the decision to pursue Christ, you’re also making the decision to battle the devil.

Joshua 24:15 says, “And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

If our heart has a throne, then every day we must make the decision about who are we going to put on the throne of our hearts. Is it the Holy Spirit or is it our old self? That decision will dictate what clothes we “take off” or “put on.”

Choosing the new self God has called you to is the best decision you will ever make, after accepting Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. But it won’t be an easy decision. You must embrace the daily battle that comes with it.

Are you ready to fight DAILY for the life God wants to bless you with?
