Decision Determines Direction

“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” – John 8:12

Yesterday, we talked about a man who came from Pepsi to work with Steve Jobs at Apple, all because of a draw to “change the world.” That was Jobs’ pitch that changed the mind of the young Pepsi president.

You may never have to decide if you are going to be a CEO for this company or that company… but every person who reads this at one point or another is going to have to make a decision, and that decision will determine the direction of your life.

You will have to choose either to follow Jesus or follow your own path. You will have to choose to do it His way or do it your own way. You will have to choose to merely exist in the world or live your life to change the world. You will have to choose either to live in the darkness or live in the light.

And the decision you make today will dictate and determine what your life will look like tomorrow. I think we all would agree that the lives of those living in darkness today look very different than those living in the light.

Jesus told us that would be the case back in John 8:12, “Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”

When Jesus came to earth, His presence made an announcement to the world that said, “You no longer have to live in darkness!” Aren’t you grateful for that today? He said, “You no longer have to live as a slave to sin with no hope!” He said, “I AM HERE! Hope is here! Life is here! Peace is here. Forgiveness is here! Joy is here!”

All of this is available to you. But it’s the decision that will determine your direction. Which direction are you going to go?
