Changed by God

“Paul, an Apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to the saints who are in Ephesus, and are faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.” – Ephesians 1:1-3

Yesterday, I told you the story of the time when I went to the golf course and was mistaken for Rickie Fowler (it was very short-lived after my “fans” saw my swing). I made that comparison to say you can resemble someone all day long and be nothing like them.

Today, there are a lot of people that are populating planet earth and these are people that were created in God’s image, just like you and me. They have a spirit, a soul, and a mind. Yet their lives look nothing like the God who created them.

You have to wonder “why?” If all mankind was created in God’s image, then why doesn’t all mankind resemble God? I think the answer is simple: the reason so many people look nothing like God is because so many people don’t know God. They aren’t following God. And they haven’t been changed by God.

When Paul wrote to the church in Ephesus, he was writing to a very specific group of people. Ephesians 1:1-3 says,

“Paul, an Apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to the saints who are in Ephesus, and are faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.”

He was writing to people who knew God, people who were faithful in following God, which tells us that the lives of these people had been changed by God through Jesus.

Has your life been changed by God? Are you living in the image of your Creator? Or does your life (and therefore, YOU) look nothing like the One who made you? God created us in His image. Yet sadly, so many venture away and look nothing like Him.

Are you living in a way that points to Jesus? Are you a living example of what it looks like to be made in the image of God?
