“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” – Romans 15:4
When it comes to communicating with God, the Lord has given us two amazing resources: prayer and Scripture. Prayer is primarily the way we talk to God (though He can speak to us through prayer as well). Scripture is how He speaks to us.
Romans 15:4 says, “For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”
God has given us His Word so that we can learn more about Him, and we can know His good and perfect will for our lives. Everything we could ever need can be found in Scripture. God will use Scripture to reveal many different things to us.
Through Scripture, God will reveal Himself. He will reveal who Jesus was during His time on earth, and how we can be like Jesus, even now. He will reveal His will for our lives. He will teach us right from wrong. And He will speak to us in our most difficult and trying times.
There is no limit to what God can do through Scripture. The only limit is how much you use it! There are so many people wanting God to speak to them, waiting to hear from God, and yet they don’t open up His Word.
The answers they are looking for are right in front of them, and they just continue to wait for God to speak some other way.
Are you waiting on God to speak to you? Is there something you are seeking clarity about? It might be time to open His Word. God speaks to us through Scripture. Perhaps the reason you haven’t heard from God is because you aren’t seeking to find the answer in the ultimate book of answers!
