Voices Lead to Choices

“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.” – Isaiah 30:21

God gives us the opportunity to make eternal choices, and He shows us that eternal choices have eternal consequences. I heard author Max Lucado put it this way, “Life comes with voices. Voices lead to choices. Choices have consequences.”

I believe every single one of us on this earth could honestly say: “I’ve listened to the voices… and I’ve made the choices… and I am where I am today—mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, and financially—because of the choices I have made.”

Ken Blanchard says, “Choice, not chance, determines destiny.”

This has been true since the very beginning of time, all the way back from when Eve made the choice to eat the apple from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Adam had the same choice when she brought him the apple.

We all have the opportunity to make choices. And the choices we make will determine the outcome of our life. But you do not have to make those choices alone. As Lucado said, voices lead to choices.

What voice are you listening to? In your life, if you are a believer, you have the Holy Spirit living inside of you. The Holy Spirit was given to us by Jesus Christ when He returned to heaven upon His resurrection.

He gave us the Holy Spirit to guide and direct our lives. It is the voice inside of us. But there is also the voice of the enemy. There is the voice of “the ways of this world.” It is so easy to get caught up in doing what everyone else is doing. In doing the trendy thing, or the cool thing.

But be careful, because God’s way is rarely the world’s way. Which voice are you going to listen to? Voices lead to choices. Make sure you are listening to the right voice because the choices you make will determine the life you live.
