Power Under Control

“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” – Proverbs 15:1

In your journey through life, you’ve likely encountered individuals who wielded power in different ways. Some let it run rampant, unchecked, and unbridled, while others harnessed it wisely, directing it with grace and responsibility. The truth becomes evident in this simple yet profound statement: power out of control is dangerous, but power under control is life-giving.

Think about moments when you’ve witnessed power in its raw, unchecked form. Perhaps it was a leader who ruled with an iron fist, caring little for the well-being of those under their authority. Or maybe it was a person who used their influence to manipulate and exploit others for personal gain. In these instances, you’ve seen how power, when left unchecked, can leave a trail of devastation, causing pain and suffering.

On the flip side, consider those individuals who exemplify power under control. They possess authority and influence but wield it with grace and humility. Their words and actions are measured and considerate, and they use their strength to uplift and empower others. When power is harnessed in this way, it becomes a force for good, breathing life into situations and relationships.

Proverbs 15:1 reminds us of the profound impact our words can have, showcasing the contrast between unchecked power and power under control. A gentle answer, spoken from a heart under control, can defuse anger and bring about reconciliation. In contrast, a harsh word, delivered without restraint, can incite anger and escalate conflicts.

Reflect on your own life and the power you hold, whether it’s through your words, actions, or influence. Are you allowing it to run amok, causing harm and discord? Or are you harnessing it wisely, using it to bring life and positivity to those around you? The choice is yours.

As you go on your way today, remember that power under control is a potent force for good. It has the potential to mend relationships, build bridges, and make the world a better place. By aligning your power with grace, humility, and responsibility, you can be a source of life-giving influence in the lives of others. Embrace the truth that power, when harnessed with care, has the capacity to bring about positive change and transformation.
