Surrendered to Christ

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20

The call to live our lives surrendered to Christ is at the heart of the Christian journey. In Galatians 2:20, the apostle Paul beautifully articulates this concept: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”

Surrendering to Christ means letting go of our own desires, ambitions, and plans, and yielding ourselves completely to His lordship. It’s a daily decision to align our will with His, to seek His guidance, and to trust in His wisdom and sovereignty.

In practical terms, surrendering to Christ means:

  1. Submitting to His authority: Acknowledging that He is the Lord of our lives, and His ways are higher and wiser than our own.
  2. Trusting Him with our future: Surrendering our fears, anxieties, and uncertainties into His capable hands, believing that He knows what is best for us.
  3. Seeking His guidance: Praying for His direction in every decision we make, both big and small, and being open to His leading.
  4. Yielding control: Letting go of our need to control every aspect of our lives and allowing Him to work in and through us.
  5. Embracing His will: Being willing to accept His plans, even when they differ from our own, and trusting that His purpose is always for our ultimate good.

Surrendering to Christ is not a one-time event but a continuous process. It requires humility, faith, and a willingness to let go of our self-reliance. It’s an ongoing journey of growing in our relationship with Him and deepening our dependence on His grace.

A great example of this is Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. He prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Even in His moment of deepest anguish, Jesus surrendered to the Father’s will.

The reward of surrender is a transformed life. When we yield to Christ, His Spirit works within us to conform us to His image. We experience His peace, joy, and purpose in ways we could never achieve on our own.

So, as you navigate life’s challenges and choices, remember the call to live surrendered to Christ. Let His indwelling presence guide your thoughts, actions, and decisions. Surrendering to Christ is not a loss but a gain, for in Him, we find the abundant life He promised.
