Supernatural Patience

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” – Colossians 3:12

Are you a patient person? Patience isn’t something that comes easily to most of us. It’s often an area in our lives where we struggle, where our human nature yearns for instant gratification. But today, I want to show you something truly incredible from God’s Word. He reveals that people who are naturally impatient, apart from God, can become supernaturally patient through Him.

In Colossians 3:12, we are reminded that as God’s chosen people, we are called to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Notice the specific mention of patience here. This verse highlights that patience is not just a desirable quality; it’s a vital part of our identity as followers of Christ.

When we admit that we are naturally impatient, we acknowledge our human limitations. We recognize that impatience can lead to frustration, misunderstandings, and strained relationships. We’ve all experienced those moments when our lack of patience got the better of us. But the good news is that God offers us a way to transform our impatience into supernatural patience.

The key to developing supernatural patience lies in our connection with God. As we draw near to Him and seek His guidance and strength, the Holy Spirit works within us, molding our character to reflect His nature. This transformation is a process that requires our willingness and cooperation, but the results are truly remarkable.

Through God’s grace, we can become patient in situations where we once might have reacted hastily. We can learn to wait with hope and trust, even when circumstances seem uncertain. We can extend understanding and forbearance to others when they test our patience. This supernatural patience goes beyond human limitations, offering grace and peace in the midst of life’s challenges.

So, if you find yourself wrestling with impatience, take heart. God can work within you, producing supernatural patience that surpasses your natural tendencies. Seek Him in prayer, study His Word, and rely on His strength to transform your impatience into a godly virtue.

As you embrace God’s supernatural patience, you’ll experience the peace and contentment that come from trusting in His perfect timing. And others will witness the transformation in your life, serving as a testimony to the power of God’s grace.
