The Beautiful Process of Sanctification

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” – 2 Corinthians 3:18

When God saves us, we embark on a transformative journey. It’s important to understand that we don’t instantly become perfect people, displaying the fruit of the Spirit flawlessly. Instead, we are filled with a perfect God who bestows upon us gifts and fruit. This perfect God begins a lifelong process within us, called sanctification, leading us on a journey of ‘becoming’ more like Christ as we pursue Him.

Sanctification isn’t about achieving perfection overnight; it’s about growing from the inside out. This process involves God continually shaping us, molding our character, and deepening our relationship with Him. We are like clay in the hands of the Master Potter, allowing Him to mold us into vessels that reflect His glory.

God’s work of sanctification starts at the moment of our salvation and continues throughout our lives. It is His grace that empowers us to bear the fruit of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These characteristics are not innate to us but are bestowed upon us by God’s Spirit.

The journey of sanctification often involves trials, challenges, and times when we stumble and fall. It is through these experiences that God refines our faith and deepens our dependence on Him. In our moments of weakness, we discover the strength of God’s grace and the depth of His love.

As we contemplate the Lord’s glory with unveiled faces, we are gradually transformed into His image. The glory we reflect increases over time, as we draw nearer to the Lord. This process is not about striving for perfection on our own, but rather surrendering to the Holy Spirit’s work within us.

So, don’t be disheartened by your imperfections or your struggles on this journey. God knows your heart and desires to work in you, from glory to glory. The fruit of the Spirit, along with the gifts He bestows, are His tools for transformation. They equip you to become more like Christ as you seek Him in your daily life.

Embrace the process of sanctification as a beautiful and ongoing transformation. It’s not about achieving a state of perfection but growing into the image of Christ. Trust in God’s perfect love and grace to guide you on this journey. In your pursuit of Him, you’ll discover the depth of His transformational power and the beauty of being conformed to His image.
