The Power of Three

“Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts… A cord of three strands is not easily broken.” – Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Have you ever noticed how the Bible talks a lot about the power of two in marriage? “Two are better than one,” says Ecclesiastes 4:9. It’s a beautiful truth – the synergy, support, and strength that come when two individuals unite in marriage. But here’s the twist: God’s blueprint for a great marriage isn’t just about two; it’s about three.

A triangle with husband, wife, and God at each corner. It’s a dynamic trio, a cord of three strands that creates a robust foundation for a lasting and resilient marriage. God isn’t an optional add-on; He’s an integral part of the design.

So, how do we prepare for the storm with this threefold blueprint?

Strengthen the Husband-Wife Bond. Invest time and effort into your relationship. Communicate openly, understand each other’s needs, and work together as a team. The stronger the connection between husband and wife, the more secure the foundation.

Cultivate a Relationship with God. A thriving marriage involves inviting God into the equation. Spend time in prayer together, seek His guidance individually and as a couple, and allow His love and wisdom to permeate your relationship. The more you align with God, the stronger the divine thread in your marriage.

Embrace the Triangle. Imagine the triangle as the shape of your marriage – with God at the top and husband and wife at the bottom corners. As you both draw closer to God, you naturally draw closer to each other. It’s a beautiful dance of unity, strength, and resilience.

Weather the Storm Together. Storms are inevitable, but a threefold cord is not easily broken. When challenges come – whether they’re financial, emotional, or relational – face them together. Pray as a couple, seek God’s wisdom, and allow His presence to be the anchor in the midst of the storm.

Remember, preparation for the storm isn’t just about battening down the hatches; it’s about reinforcing the foundation. With husband, wife, and God woven into the fabric of your marriage, you’re not just weathering the storm; you’re standing strong in the face of it.
