The Path from Enmity to Intimacy

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” – Matthew 6:33

Have you ever stopped to think about the wisdom written about in Matthew 6:33? It says, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” This verse holds a key principle that can transform not just our individual lives but also the very fabric of our marriages.

When enmity casts its shadow over the intimacy we once shared with our spouses, it’s time to reevaluate our priorities. Often, the path from discord to connection begins with a shift in focus. From the turmoil within our relationship to the One who holds the blueprint for love and unity.

God designed marriage to be a reflection of His love for us, and when we place Him at the center, everything falls into alignment. Pursuing God above all else means seeking His wisdom, grace, and guidance. It’s an acknowledgment that our human efforts fall short, and only through Him can we find the strength to rebuild what has been broken.

Enmity often arises when our own desires and needs take precedence over God’s design for love and unity in marriage. The pursuit of self can blind us to the needs and feelings of our spouses. However, when we prioritize seeking God’s kingdom and righteousness, our perspective shifts, and we begin to see our relationships through His lens of love.

Godly pursuits have a way of transforming our hearts. As we draw nearer to God, we find the grace to extend that same love and forgiveness to our spouses. It becomes a transformative journey where enmity gives way to intimacy, and the brokenness of the past is mended by the healing touch of God’s presence.

So, if you find yourself in a season of enmity within your marriage, consider this: seek God first. Allow His love to permeate your hearts, guiding you back to the path of unity. As you pursue God above all else, you’ll discover the strength to rebuild, the wisdom to navigate challenges, and the grace to cultivate true intimacy.

Your marriage will be blessed as you seek first the kingdom of God.
