“Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” – James 1:26-27
Today, let’s explore the second reason why people end up in hell. They’d rather be religious than have a real relationship with God.

What God desires is not empty religious rituals but a deep, intimate relationship with His children. He longs for hearts that are surrendered to Him, minds that are renewed by His Word, and lives that reflect His love and character.
Religiousness without relationship often leads to self-deception. It gives people a false sense of security and righteousness, leading them to believe that their outward acts of piety are sufficient to earn God’s favor. However, Jesus warns against this mindset, emphasizing the importance of genuine faith and obedience.
Are you merely going through the motions of religion, or do you have a genuine, vibrant relationship with God? Are you seeking to know Him intimately, to walk in obedience to His Word, and to reflect His love and grace to others?
Let’s not deceive ourselves with empty religious practices but instead, let’s pursue a deep, meaningful relationship with God. Let’s allow His love to transform us from the inside out, so that our lives may bear witness to the power and reality of His presence.
