No Other Name

“There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.” – Acts 4:12

Before He was arrested, Jesus prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me.” In other words, “if there’s any other way, another cup, another method that would satisfy the claims of divine justice, and make salvation possible for lost sinners, let’s take that other way.”

But according to God’s word, there wasn’t. Acts 4:12 says,There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.”

See, there was nobody else who could do the mission because no one else was blameless. We have mentioned many times in the last week that Jesus was both full-God AND fully human. He had all the emotions and feelings of a human being. We know He was filled with the emotions of trouble and sorrow on the night He prayed, asking God if there was another way.

He was tempted three times by Satan, just as you and I are tempted daily. Jesus was fully human, and yet never gave into those temptations. He was blameless. And that is why He was the only one who could do what God had called Him to do. Because He was blameless, He didn’t deserve to die. He didn’t deserve to be punished for sin, because He never committed any!

And yet, that is exactly what He did. He died for our sins! He did what no one else could do. And He did it because He loves you. Listen, if you are reading this right now, then it is no coincidence. God wants to remind you today of His love for you.

He didn’t even spare His own Son for you! Jesus, who never did anything wrong, died the death that you and I deserve. And He did it because He loves us. Thank God today, that He loves you so much that He would send His blameless Son to do what no one else could: die for you!
