The Right Place at the Right Time
"And the king said to me, 'What are you requesting?' So I prayed to the God of heaven." - Nehemiah 2:4
Have you ever looked around at your life and wondered, “Why am I here? Why this job, this school, this neighborhood, this circle of people? Maybe it feels random or even frustrating. But what if it is not? What if God has placed you exactly where you are for a reason?
Nehemiah was not a pastor or a prophet. He was a cupbearer. A servant. He spent his days tasting wine to make sure it was not poisoned. Not exactly the résumé you would expect for someone called to rebuild a city. What Nehemiah didn’t know was that he was in the perfect position. He had access to the king. And when God put a vision in his heart, he had the ear of the one man on earth who could help make it happen.
God provided the position before He revealed the purpose. Maybe that is true for you, too.
You might think your job is too small, or your influence too limited, or your situation too ordinary to do something great for God. But God is not limited by titles or platforms. He does not need you to be the boss or the leader or the expert. He just needs you to be available.
Nehemiah didn’t force his way into the palace. God put him there. And when the moment came, Nehemiah was ready. He didn’t waste his access. He didn’t waste his opportunity. He didn’t sit on his vision. He spoke up. He trusted God. And the story of a cupbearer became the story of a city rebuilder.
What if your current position is not a detour but a setup? What if the people around you are not there by accident? What if the situation you are in right now is the exact place God wants to use to do something beyond what you could imagine?
Stop asking why you are here and start asking how God might want to use you right where you are. When God gives you a vision, He always provides the position.
