Marked as His Own

“In him you also were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and when you believed. The Holy Spirit is the down payment of our inheritance, until the redemption of the possession, to the praise of his glory.” – Ephesians 1:13-14

When you place your faith in Jesus, something powerful happens that you cannot see with your eyes but can experience in your heart. God marks you as His own. The Bible calls this being “sealed with the Holy Spirit.” That seal is God’s promise that you belong to Him forever.

In the ancient world, a seal was used to show ownership, authenticity, and security. A king would press his signet ring into hot wax to mark a document as official. That mark carried the king’s authority and guaranteed that what was written was protected and genuine. In the same way, when you believed in Jesus, God placed His Spirit within you as His mark of ownership. It was His way of saying, “This one is mine.”

Being sealed means your salvation is not fragile. It cannot be lost or stolen. The Holy Spirit’s presence in your life is proof that you have been redeemed and that your future with God is secure. You are no longer defined by your past but by His promise. The seal of the Spirit is a daily reminder that you are loved, chosen, and kept by the power of God.

Paul describes the Holy Spirit as the “down payment” of our inheritance. In other words, God gave us His Spirit as a guarantee that everything He has promised will come to pass. One day, we will see the fullness of that promise when we stand with Him in glory, but even now, we carry His presence within us.

There may be days when you feel uncertain or unworthy, but God’s seal never fades. His Spirit continues to comfort, convict, and guide you, reminding you that you are not alone. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead now lives in you.

Let that truth give you confidence today. You are sealed, secured, and sustained by the Holy Spirit. Your identity is proven, your salvation is certain, and your future is guaranteed. You belong to God, and nothing can ever change that.

Those are the words I needed to read this morning. Thank you. Glory be to God, whom no doubt lives inside me. Every now and then I need to be reminded of that. God Bless Everyone.
