Wisdom In Relationships

"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." - John 13:35

Jesus identified love as the distinguishing mark of His followers. Not knowledge, not spiritual gifts, not moral perfection, but love. This week we've explored how wisdom shapes our relationships with family, friends, teachers, leaders, and communities. In each case, the application of wisdom ultimately comes down to love.

Wisdom in family relationships means loving family members enough to honor them, to speak truth to them, and to work through conflicts for the sake of the relationship. Wisdom in friendship means loving friends enough to sharpen them, even when it's uncomfortable. Wisdom in teaching and learning means loving students and teachers enough to engage fully in the educational process.

Wisdom in conflict resolution means loving others enough to address problems directly rather than letting them fester. Wisdom in leadership means loving those we lead enough to serve their interests rather than our own. Wisdom in community means loving others enough to consistently show up and encourage them toward love and good deeds.

This kind of love is not mere sentiment or feeling; it's a choice to seek the best for others even when it costs us something. It's the love that Jesus demonstrated when He laid down His life for us, and it's the love He calls us to show to one another.

As we worship God for His wisdom in creating us for relationship and community, we also acknowledge our need for His help in loving others well. Left to ourselves, we tend toward selfishness, pride, and the kind of love that expects something in return. But God's Spirit enables us to love with His love, which is patient, kind, and seeks the good of others.

This week has reminded us that wisdom is not just about making good individual choices; it's about building relationships and communities that reflect God's character and advance His kingdom. It's about being the kind of people others can walk with and become wiser as a result.

Prayer:
Lord, grant me wisdom and love in all my relationships. Help me to reflect Your kindness, patience, and truth as I interact with others. Fill my heart with Your love so that I may honor You in every connection and bring encouragement to those around me. Amen.
