TRUSTING GOD WITH FAMILY FEARS

July 20, 2023

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” – Philippians 4:6

Families are a precious gift from God, but it’s not uncommon for fears to creep into our hearts when it comes to our loved ones. We worry about their well-being, their futures, and the challenges they may face. However, as followers of Christ, we have a powerful reason not to succumb to these fears. We can trust God with our families.

When fears arise concerning our families, it’s important to remember that worry and anxiety do not change our circumstances or protect our loved ones. Instead, they weigh us down and steal our peace. God calls us to cast our anxieties on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). There are two reasons why we can confidently trust God with our family fears:

  1. God’s Sovereignty:
God is sovereign over all things, including our families. He sees the beginning from the end, and His plans for our loved ones are good (Jeremiah 29:11). As we surrender our fears to Him, we acknowledge His wisdom and His ability to work all things together for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). Trusting God’s sovereignty means acknowledging that He knows what is best for our families, even when we cannot see the way forward.

  1. God’s Love and Faithfulness:
Our Heavenly Father’s love for us and our families is immeasurable. He cares for each member individually and deeply. God promises to be with us through every trial and challenge, providing comfort, guidance, and strength (Isaiah 41:10). We can trust His faithfulness, knowing that He will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). His love and faithfulness extend beyond our human limitations and fears, offering hope and assurance in every circumstance.

Instead of allowing fear to paralyze us, let us turn to God in prayer, presenting our requests and concerns to Him. He invites us to approach Him with confidence, knowing that He hears our prayers and responds according to His perfect will (1 John 5:14). In every situation, let us cultivate an attitude of gratitude, acknowledging God’s goodness and faithfulness.

As we entrust our families to God’s care, we can release our fears and embrace His peace. Through our unwavering trust in Him, we become instruments of His love, grace, and wisdom within our families. Let us walk in faith, knowing that God is at work, guiding, protecting, and transforming our loved ones according to His perfect plan.
