PRIDE’S THREAT TO ETERNAL WORK

“For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” – Luke 14:11
Pride poses a significant threat to the work we will undertake in heaven. It compromises our ability to serve wholeheartedly, selflessly, and in alignment with God’s purposes. As Luke 14:11 reminds us, those who exalt themselves will be humbled, but those who humble themselves will be exalted. Understanding the dangers of pride is crucial as we consider our eternal work in heaven.
In heaven, our service and work will be for the glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom. It will require a complete surrender to His will, a willingness to put others first, and a humble posture that acknowledges our utter dependence on God’s grace and guidance. Pride, on the other hand, elevates self and hinders our ability to fulfill our heavenly calling.
Pride distorts our perspective, leading us to seek recognition, power, and personal gain. It fuels a desire to be elevated above others, leading to competition and a lack of unity among the heavenly servants. Pride blinds us to the beauty of collaboration and selfless service, hindering the harmony and effectiveness of our collective work.
Furthermore, pride compromises our willingness to submit to God’s authority and to work in accordance with His plans. It prompts us to rely on our own understanding and reject the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In doing so, we undermine the wisdom and divine direction that are essential for fulfilling our roles in heaven’s work.
To ensure our work in heaven remains impactful and pleasing to God, we must cultivate humility. Humility allows us to recognize our rightful place as servants of God and ambassadors of His love and grace. It positions us to embrace the diverse gifts and abilities of others, fostering collaboration and unity in our heavenly tasks.
Humility also opens our hearts to receive God’s wisdom, guidance, and empowerment. It enables us to work in alignment with His will, trusting His timing and methods. By humbling ourselves before God, we acknowledge that all we have and all we accomplish are gifts from Him, and we redirect all glory and honor back to Him.
May we seek God’s help in cultivating humility and surrendering our desires for recognition and control. Let us embrace the joy of serving others selflessly, allowing God’s love to flow through us and impact the lives of those around us.
