GOD-THINGS

January 11, 2023

“To be faithful saints in Christ Jesus at Ephesus. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavens in Christ.” – Ephesians 1:1-3

Have you ever wondered why we as Christians experience blessings? Well, it is because our identity is found in Christ. You receive blessings because you are IN CHRIST. Paul said those who are “in Christ” are blessed.

Now, if you are not saved and you don’t know Jesus, you can still experience good things; you just can’t experience God-things. Only those who are IN CHRIST will experience God’s best in their lives. If we are in Christ today…

We are no longer SINNERS—who are defined by our SINS.

We are now SAINTS—who are defined by our SAVIOR.

What this means is that life is not about “getting what we deserve” as sinners. Don’t get me wrong, Christians still sin. Many will call them hypocrites, but the truth is no Christian is perfect. We are all human beings, and we all make mistakes. Being a Christian does not make you immune to sin.

But what it does mean is that you are no longer defined by that sin. Your life is not about the consequences of getting what you deserve. It is about being blessed, or in other words, getting what you DON’T deserve.

Aren’t you thankful that is the type of God we serve? One that loves us so much He wants to give us what we don’t deserve? But this is only the case if you are a Christian. If you have given your life to Christ, you are eligible to experience the “God-things.” You will experience God’s very best for your life when you follow His will.

If not, what are you waiting for? Do you want to live a life of “you get what you deserve?” Or do you want to be blessed even when you don’t deserve it? God is waiting for you. Give your life to Him and watch Him start to bless you in ways you have never experienced before!
